I am often asked by clients if engagement sessions are worth the time and investment. And my answer is a strong YES! While it may seem like an unnecessary expense or an added task on an already long wedding to-do list, I can confidently say that an engagement session is an invaluable investment for so many reasons! An engagement session isn’t just about taking photos; it’s about capturing the love and excitement you both share as you prepare for your big day. I highly recommend the engagement to all of my clients and here are some reasons why
Getting used to be in front of the camera:
Absolutely! Getting used to being in front of the camera is one of the key benefits of an engagement session. It’s completely normal to feel a bit awkward or nervous at first, especially if you’re not used to being photographed professionally. However, an engagement session provides the perfect opportunity to get comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera before your wedding day.
During the session, I will guide you through different poses and prompts to help you feel more at ease. You’ll quickly find that you start to relax and enjoy the experience, which will not only result in more natural and authentic photos but also help you feel more confident in front of the camera on your wedding day.
By the end of the session, you’ll likely feel much more comfortable and confident, which will make your wedding day photoshoot feel like a breeze. Plus, you’ll have some beautiful engagement photos to cherish as a reminder of this special time in your lives.
Photos to use for wedding décor and save the dates:
Engagement photos add a personal touch to your wedding celebrations and help create a cohesive theme. Use your favorite engagement photo on your save-the-date cards. This gives your guests a glimpse of your love story and sets the tone for your wedding. Also you can create a unique guest book by using engagement photos for the cover or throughout the book. Guests can leave messages alongside your beautiful photos. Some couples like to create a big printed photo display at your wedding venue using engagement photos. there are so many different way you can utilize your engagement pictures. Use engagement photos on wedding favors, such as personalized magnets or coasters. Guests will appreciate the personal touch.
Getting to know your photographer:
Every photographer has a different shooting style and a different personality of course! Booking an engagement session is the best way to get to know your photographer in person and to learn what their particular shooting style is. Your wedding photographer will play a very big role in capturing one of the most important days of your life.
During my engagement sessions, I absolutely love getting to know my clients better as a couple. It is so much fun to learn about their unique personalities, their dynamic, and the things that make their relationship special. Overall this communication really helps me to capture images that truly reflect their unique love story both during the engagement shoot and on their wedding day.
Celebrate your love:
An engagement session is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your love in a meaningful and memorable way. It’s a chance to create lasting memories that you can look back on and treasure for years to come. Engagement sessions are all about capturing the unique and beautiful connection you share with your significant other and creating memories.
During an engagement session, I love to encourage my clients to truly be themselves — be playful, be serious, be silly, and have fun. I love creating a space where my couples feel comfortable expressing their love for each other and to show their unique personalities. Whether that means dancing, laughing, or snuggling up close, engagement sessions are a chance to let your love shine through!
Because engagement sessions are FUN:
Finally, the very BEST reason to book an engagement session is simply because it’s a fun excuse for a date night and to hang out with your best friend! Many couples find that the engagement session is a highlight of their wedding planning process. It’s a break from the stress of planning and a time to simply focus on each other and celebrate your love.
When do you get engagement photos:
One last note! If you schedule a session with me, my turnaround time for engagement photos is 2-3 weeks. Because of this, I recommend booking your engagement session at least 5 weeks before you want to send out save the dates. If you are having a long engagement, you can have more flexibility to choose what season you would most want your photos taken in and schedule accordingly!
